9.5 will sync but as you say puts them in V and A tracks. Like you Dave I prefer working with VA tracks for source video. While I have taken no measurements, I suspect if I were to time the import and sync for each application I might find they are very close in time. The syncing itself is quite a bit faster. Plural Eyes takes quite a bit of time during its import stage. The time it takes to sync so far seems to be comparable. Once you begin editing a Plural Eyes imported project, there' is no nice way to add additional files.

Importing the FCP XML files generated by Plural Eyes results in all the stereo audio tracks as left and right.
